Daily Shuttle

Snow Lodge Transfer

Guests staying at the Snow Lodge in Yellowstone National Park must arrange for a transfer to and from the Snow Lodge. This daily shuttle runs from Flagg Ranch to the Snow Lodge, and back to Flagg Ranch. Guests can book a one way transfer, either into the Snow Lodge or departing from the Snow Lodge, or they can book a full round trip to accommodate their stay in Yellowstone’s interior. The transfer takes about 2 hrs, and departs twice a day. You must have reservations – book your transfer at the same time you book your stay.

Highlight of our trip! A huge shout out to Kim! He was knowledgeable, professional, kind and helpful. We were a party of 5 with Grandma and a special needs 12 year old. We booked a two day tour and it was the highlight of our 4 days in Yellowstone. Booking two days allowed us to have a relaxed trip through the park. Kim handled our unexpected trip to the clinic in the middle of the first day like a pro. He kept the other members occupied and even checked in on us. He knew right where to go to have the best opportunities to see wildlife. We were lucky and saw wolves, a grizzly, goats, big horn sheep, pronghorn and bison!! Lunch was fabulous and relaxing. Best Way to See Yellowstone! Our family of 5 adults gathered in Montana for family time. Decided to enlist a guide to help us get the most of our time in Yellowstone. Our guide, Phil, picked us up at our door and our adventure began. Phil was knowledgeable of not only Yellowstone but the surrounding areas. We avoided crowds and were treated to some amazing sights in Yellowstone. We learned so much about Yellowstone's history and its' inhabitants, as well as being shown some off the beatin path beautiful scenery, that we probably would not have found on our own. Terrific Tour of Yellowstone Our family of 9 adults and 3 children went on a 1 day tour with Greater Yellowstone Guides. We had a wonderful experience! Great way to start your Yellowstone Visit We were a party of 6 with some limited mobility. The exceptional experience started with the reservation. The following day we were contacted by Greater Yellowstone Guides and they did a thorough interview on what we wanted to get out of our tour, any limitations of our group and any particular sights or areas we wanted to see. Phil was our guide and he was excellent. Not only did he meet all of our desires for the tour, he frequently pulled pictures, information and diagrams from his bag to enhance our understanding of the scene we were observing. We were picked up and dropped off at our campsite outside the park and served a delicious lunch during our 8 hour tour. Phil seemed to keep us ahead of the crowds throughout the day. Unparalleled spectacular experience Our group consisted of 4 seniors with varied physical abilities and a 34 year old with varied physical abilities and our guide Barbara was amazing!!! She was a wealth of knowledge and kept us interested in everything we saw. The wildlife put on quite a show. We saw a red fox, many bison including a newborn with the umbilical cord still attached, a brown bear, a mommy black bear with her cub that came really close to the vehicle, a couple ravens,red tail hawks,several sand hill cranes, an osprey in her nest with her babies, and many pronghorns. The geology and natural history of park was presented by Barbara in a very interesting enjoyable manner. We would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to really see and understand more about Yellowstone. Wish we had more time to go another day!

The Only Way to see Yellowstone! We were a large group (9) with ages ranging from 74 to 14 and Phil and his tour were perfect for all! I can't imagine a better way to see so many things in Yellowstone in a single day than with Greater Yellowstone Guides! We even saw a black bear splashing in a stream having a great time. Your Questions, Answered

Do I need snowmobile experience?

No. The vast majority of our guests have never ridden a snowmobile. Your guide provides a 20–30 minute orientation before entering the park covering operation, braking, and safety. Park roads are groomed and flat, with a 35 mph speed limit enforced by the NPS. Most guests feel fully comfortable within the first mile.

What is a snowcoach, and is it different from a snowmobile tour?

A snowcoach is a heated, enclosed vehicle specially built or converted for travel on groomed snow roads inside Yellowstone. Our snowcoaches sit higher off the ground than regular vehicles, giving every passenger an elevated view for wildlife spotting and photography. A snowmobile tour puts you in the driver’s seat of your own machine — more active and adventurous, but requiring gear and physical engagement all day. Both visit the same destinations; the choice is adventure vs. comfort.

Why depart from Jackson instead of West Yellowstone?

The Jackson departure adds Grand Teton National Park to your day — a bonus most winter visitors never plan for. Your route passes the National Elk Refuge, the Teton Range, and the Snake River corridor before you even enter Yellowstone. The South Entrance also gives you access to West Thumb Geyser Basin, which sits directly on the shore of frozen Yellowstone Lake — a feature no other entrance route includes.

When is the Yellowstone winter season?

Yellowstone’s interior roads open for oversnow travel on December 15 each year and close March 15. This short winter season is the only time guided snowmobile and snowcoach tours operate inside the park.

How cold will it be?

Inside Yellowstone, winter temperatures typically range from -10°F to 25°F (-23°C to -4°C). Windchill on a snowmobile can feel colder. We provide full cold-weather gear for snowmobile guests — insulated suit, helmet, boots, and gloves — and guide you through layering before departure. Snowcoach guests stay warm inside the heated vehicle for most of the day.

How far in advance should I book?

4–8 weeks for most dates; 8–12 weeks for holidays and popular January weekends. The NPS caps the number of snowmobiles and snowcoaches permitted inside the park each day. When those allocations are filled, they are filled — no exceptions. Book early.

Are children allowed?

Children 8+ may join us for a public snowcoach tour, or as a rider on a snowmobile. Children under the age of 8 may join a private snowcoach tour, but will not be allowed to ride on the back of a snowmobile. Children under 9 must be secured in a federally approved child safety seat per Wyoming law; please bring your own. For snowmobile tours, drivers must be at least 16 with a valid driver’s license.

What does the tour cost?

Snowmobile tours start at $450 per driver and $250 per passenger. Snowcoach tours start at $395 per person. Private tours are priced by group — contact us for a custom quote or start your booking online to see pricing and availability.

Park entrance fees are not included and are charged per person and per snowmobile. We recommend purchasing an “America the Beautiful” annual pass before arrival.
